Il Mattone Trattoria (Claremont)

July 20: Il Mattone Trattoria (Claremont)

Ordered: 1 pizza margherita (13″, $12) , 1 pizza ligure (13″, $13)

We decided on a Thursday afternoon to trek all the way to Claremont for a late lunch at Il Mattone Trattoria, which we hadn’t eaten at since it’s name change (a long time). IMT features a legit wood oven that you can watch the pizza-maker sliding your lunch into and out of … a little too quickly. While the ligure (pesto, goat cheese, zucchini) was a bit odd, the margherita was solid: very good sauce, a thisclose crust, and good cheese … save for the enormous blobs turding up an anotherwise excellent pie. Maybe pizza-maker error?

Summary: cost-wise by far best in area … just beware the mozzaturds.
