Nomad Pizza

une 15: Nomad Pizza, 611 S 7th St, Philadelphia, PA

Ordered: 1 ½ margherita di bufala, ½ pepperoni (~ 13″, $15.00 pre-tax).

If Nomad were local, this would probably end our quest; sadly, our quest goes on. This might, in fact, be the best pizza we’ve ever had. The crust: hand-made, a light touch, well baked so that the dough was airy and crisp, charred and tender; the bufala melts so much more supremely than standard dry mozzarella (at least on a Napoletana-style pie), the pepperoni from Applegate Farms was spicy, chewy, savory, intense, the sauce was light and fresh without being sweet, and everything tasted like a single harmonious whole rather than an assemblage of unhappy pieces.

Summary: Better, even, than Bar Cotto in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, our to-this-point all-timer.
